Это было давно и неправда

Это было давно и неправда

Today we’ll learn a few informal Russian phrases that can make your Russian sound like you’ve been speaking it for years. Let’s begin!

Привет, друзья!

Hello friends!

Когда-то я говорила только на одном языке – русском. Но это было давно и неправда. Cегодня я с большим или меньшим успехом говорю на четырех языках и продолжаю их учить. Ведь изучение языка – это процесс длиною в жизнь. Вы согласны?

Once I spoke only one language – Russian. But it was a long time ago and is not true. Today I speak four languages, with more or less success, and continue to learn them. Because learning a language is a process that lasts a lifetime. Do you agree?

Тогда приглашаю Ваc присоединиться ко мне и выучить еще несколько очень русских фраз! 🙂

Then I invite you to join me and learn some more very Russian phrases! 🙂

– “Это было давно и неправда” – довольно распространенное выражение, которое чаще можно слышать в неформальной обстановке. “Это было давно” – понятно, но почему же “неправда”? Потому что за это время правда изменилась. Сегодняшняя правда совсем другая, чем та, которая была давно.

– “It was a long time ago and is not true” is a pretty common expression which can often be heard in an informal atmosphere. “It was a long time ago” – that’s clear, but why “not true”? Because during all this time the truth has changed. Today’s truth is completely different than the one that was long time ago.

– Я помню, когда мы учились в школе, он был первым хулиганом.
– Это было давно и неправда, сегодня он порядочный и очень уважаемый в своих кругах человек.

– I remember, when we were in school, he was the first hooligan.
– It was a long time and is not true, today he is a decent and very respected in his circles person.

Еще одно выражение, которое я “терпеть ненавижу” слышать – “как только, так сразу”… Стоп, я сказала “терпеть ненавижу”? Вот так и вкрадываются в наши выпуски незапланированные гости. 🙂

Another expression that I “hate to tolerate hearing” is “as soon as, right away” … Stop, did I say “hate to tolerate”? That’s how unplanned guests slip into our episodes. 🙂

Но, все по-порядку.

But, everything in its order:

– Ты когда вынесешь мусор?
– Как только, так сразу.

– When are you going to take out the garbage?
– As soon as, right away.

– Когда ты починишь кран? Он все время течет.
– Как только, так сразу.

– When are you going to fix the tap? It leaks non-stop.
– As soon as, right away.

Как видно из примеров, выражение “как только, так сразу” по большей части используется русскими, чтобы уйти от ответа на вопрос “Когда?”. Хотя бывает, что его можно услышать и как вполне резонный ответ. Например:

As we can see from the examples, the expression “as soon as, right away” is mostly used by the Russians to get away from the answer to the question “When?”. Although sometimes it happens that it can be heard as a completely reasonable answer as well. For example:

– Ты позвонишь мне, когда вопрос решится?
– Да, как только, так сразу.

– Will you call me when the question is resolved?
– Yes, as soon as, right away.

Поехали дальше… Вы наверняка знаете выражение “терпеть не могу”. Например:

Moving forward… You probably know the expression “I can not stand”. For example:

Терпеть не могу современные русские телевизионные сериалы.

I can’t stand modern Russian television series.

“Терпеть ненавижу” – это его измененный чисто разговорный вариант. Это когда вы не просто что-то не можете терпеть, а всеми фибрами души не выносите.

“Hate to tolerate” is its changed purely conversational version. This is when you not only can’t stand something, you hate it with all the fibers of your soul.

Терпеть ненавижу, когда кто-то громко чавкает!

I hate it when somebody champs loudly!

“Всеми фибрами души” значит очень сильно. “Всеми фибрами” можно любить, ненавидеть, хотеть, желать и т.п.

“With all the fibers of the soul” means very much. “With all the fibers” you can love, hate, want, desire, etc.

Я тебя обожаю всеми фибрами души!

I adore you with all the fibers of my soul!

Я всеми фибрами души хочу поскорее вернуться домой.

With all the fibers of my soul I want to go home as soon as possible.

Ну что, пожалуй, хватит на сегодня. Всеми фибрами своей необъятной души желаю вам отличного настроения и бодрости духа! До скорого!

Well, perhaps, enough for today. With all the fibers of my immense soul, I wish you to be in a great mood and have your spirit energized! See you later!
