Шедевральный

Greetings! In this new episode of the Very Much Russian podcast we’ll learn four Russian words and expressions which can help you to express your gratitude and admiration, as well as make your Russian sound cool and advanced. 🙂

Приве́т вам всем грома́дный!

Huge hello to everybody!

Наконе́ц-то весна́ показа́ла свой весну́шчатый нос из-по́д сне́га. Жи́тели Петербу́рга поснима́ли свои́ многочи́сленные ве́рхние оде́жды и ра́достно разгу́ливают в весе́нних наря́дах. В связи́ с таки́м ра́достным поворо́том собы́тий, предме́том на́шего сего́дняшнего подкаста бу́дут исключи́тельно положи́тельные выска́зывания. Начнём, пожа́луй. 🙂

Finally, the spring showed its freckled nose from under the snow. The inhabitants of St.-Petersburg took off their numerous outer garments and are happily roaming in the spring clothes. In connection with such a joyous turn of events, the subjects of our today’s podcast will be only extremely positive statements. Let’s start, I think. 🙂

А начнём с просто́го – я тя лю, что явля́ется разгово́рным сокраще́нием от “я тебя́ люблю́”. Вряд ли сто́ит признава́ться в любви́ таки́м о́бразом, но, наприме́р, вы́разить свою́ кра́йнюю благода́рность бли́зкому дру́гу и́ли подру́ге, мо́жно. Наприме́р:

And we’ll start with a simple “ya tya lyu” which is a colloquial reduction from “I love you”. I don’t think you should confess your love in such a way, but, for example, express your extreme gratitude to a close friend or girlfriend, possible. For example:

Russian Pod 101

Ооо, ты сде́лал э́то для меня́? Я тя лю!

Ohh, you did it for me? Ya tya lyu!

На́ше второ́е сло́во на сего́дня – шедевра́льный. Происхо́дит от сло́ва “шеде́вр”, что зна́чит “выдаю́щееся произведе́ние иску́сства”. В це́лом сло́во дово́льно безоби́дно и мо́жет употребля́ться в разли́чных ситуа́циях, что́бы вы́разить своё восхище́ние чем-нибу́дь. Наприме́р

Our second word for today is “masterpieceful”. It comes from the word “masterpiece” which means “an outstanding work of art”. In general, the word is rather innocuous and can be used in various situations to express your admiration for something. For example:

Э́тот фильм про́сто шедевра́льный!

This movie is simply a masterpiece!

Сле́дующее выраже́ние не то, что́бы о́чень положи́тельное, но весьма́ заба́вное: часы́ пого́ду пока́зывают. А смысл его́ прост – часы́ врут. Наприме́р:

It’s not like the next expression is very positive, but it’s quite funny: “the watch is showing the weather”. Its meaning is simple – the watch is wrong. For example:

Kalinka Russian Course

Ско́лько сейча́с вре́мени? А то у меня́ часы́ пого́ду пока́зывают.

What time is it now? My watch is showing the weather.

И после́днее на сего́дня сло́во – разрули́ть, кото́рое происхо́дит от “руль” и явля́ется молодёжным сле́нгом, обознача́ющим “реши́ть пробле́му, вы́йти из сло́жной ситуа́ции”. Наприме́р:

And the last word for today is “разрули́ть” which comes from the “steering wheel” and happens to be youngsters’ slang meaning “to solve the problem, to get out of a difficult situation”. For example:

Ему́ удало́сь всё разрули́ть за три мину́ты.

He managed to sort everything out in three minutes.

blankblank

Т.е. он нашёл вы́ход из ситуа́ции за три мину́ты.

I.e. he found a way out of the situation in three minutes.

На э́том позво́льте пожела́ть вам, что́бы часы́ ва́ши рабо́тали шедевра́льно, а все пробле́мы разру́ливались бы са́ми по себе́! До ско́рого!

On this, let me wish you that your watch works “masterpiecefully”, and may all your problems sort themselves out on their own! See you later!

  1. This is a freshly new Russian, altogether; it, almost, has a very little in common with the Russian we’ve used to communicate with in the second half of the 1970s- 1981— the old good times of mine:) Thank you very much, I enjoyed myself immensely, as I usually am when listening and reading your lovely lessons. Much more is needed, and welcomed, as well… at your coveniece, of course.

      Hello Shurki,

Thank you for your comment. It’s good to know I bring not only knowledge but good memories too.

      Good luck! 🙂
