Hi!
Each of us has his/her own favorite places and ways to spend free time. Some people go to the movies, some ride their rollerblades, and others like “потусоваться” – in a nightclub, in a bar or somewhere else.
“Тусоваться” (to hang out) is a youth slang meaning “to get together to chat, spend some free time”. For example:
Every evening he is hanging out at the club, and in the morning he is at work like a young cucumber. I do not understand where did he get so much health.
“Like a young cucumber” is a popular expression that describes a very cheerful and fresh, like a young cucumber, person.
The word “тусоваться” can be shortened to “туси́ть”, for example:
What are you up to today? Let’s go hung out to the club?
The place where people hang out, as well as the group of people who are hanging out, is called “тусовка”, or shortly “туса”.
What is the most trendy party in Moscow today?
I do not like this party, shall we go somewhere else?
A little apart from its main meaning, “тусоваться” and “тусовка” can be applied to any pastime or group of people:
Where are you going to hang out on the weekend?
What is this get-together here? Everybody go back to your place!
Let’s take a flight? I have no desire to hang out in the train all night.
