August 2016 – Long Distance Baking
One of my favorite meals is a cold Asian noodle salad, especially on a hot summer day. With summer coming to a close (which we’re pretty excited about here on LDB because we LOVE fall), I thought it was time to enjoy one last Asian noodle salad. And what better and more convenient way than with this JSL noodle pack! What is great about this salad is its simplicity. I had all the ingredients and was able to throw it together for quick, delicious and healthy meal! I had leftover chicken … [Read more…]
It’s obvious we have an ice cream obsession around here, but sometimes you want to beat the summer heat and not feel guilty about indulging. Or maybe you’re doing the Whole30 like us and can’t have sugar. Or maybe you just want a healthy summer treat for the kiddos. Whatever your reasoning, these popsicles are just what you need. If you are not watching The Great British Baking Show on PBS, you are missing out. Seriously, your life can’t possibly be complete. This show is hilarious, heart warming, tense, funny, educational and wonderful all wrapped in one! In fact, go stream the first two seasons on Netflix then come back and read the rest. Don’t worry, I’ll wait. Hello again! Can we please talk about how funny Sue and Mel are? And isn’t Mary Berry just the best! I want to invite her over for tea and … [Read more…]
Coffee might be my biggest weakness. I need it in the morning, I won’t turn it down in the afternoon, and I’ve been known to drink it in the evening before bed (I’m not an addict. Italians do it. It’s classy). The only problem with this coffee obsession of mine is that it’s approximately a million degrees outside here this summer, and that is not an exaggeration, so I needed a way to get my coffee kick without overheating. Enter: coffee ice cream. With fresh brewed coffee in the base and … [Read more…]
The Summer Olympics start tonight with the opening ceremonies. Here’s a look back at the 1996 Olympics. What happens to Olympic villages after the Olympics? Check out these abandoned ones. It’s kind of sad… What’s the difference between ice cream and gelato? Have you seen the previews for the Kitten Summer Games? Adorable! Our friend Megan over at Country Cleaver just announced she’s writing a cookbook! All about Cast Iron Cooking. So cool! … [Read more…]
