Bananas – Long Distance Baking
Guys, I finally made banana cream pie! When I lived in LA, my friends and I would sometimes go to this whole in wall pie place called The Apple Pan. It’s a tiny old-fashioned burger joint with only one giant U-shaped bar for seating and they are known for their pie. Nothing beats the smell of banana bread baking in the oven. It is the epitome of comfort, home and family. I absolutely love it! I’ve been on a banana kick lately as evident of my banana scone fiasco. As my sister asked, “who makes banana scones??” Seriously, who makes banana scones? In my mind I was thinking I would whip up some delicious banana bread-esque scones with perhaps a chocolate drizzle. Some say I’m a picky eater (don’t listen to them…I’m infinitely better than I was as a child). However one thing I’m still picky about: Bananas. They have one little bruise? Done. Start turning slightly brown? Nope. I just can’t do it! I also can’t bear to throw them away, so I end up with a freezer full of brown bananas.
