Breads/Muffins
I love breakfast. It just might be my favorite meal of the day! With dessert a close second. Very rarely though do I actually make breakfast though. It’s usually always something quick that I’m shoving in my mouth in the car rushing to get to work on time. Super classy and grown up, I know. Now that I work a normal Monday-Friday shift (yay!!) the idea of making a real weekend breakfast has been sounding better and better. When I saw the Boise State football game wasn’t until 8:30pm last … [Read more…]
If you know me at all, you know I have a Starbucks obsession. Really it’s just a coffee obsession, but there is a Starbucks less than 2 blocks from my house. I end up there a lot. I don’t usually get food there, since I’m going for the caffeine, but if I do I always end up with the pumpkin bread. Once I splurged and got the pumpkin cream cheese muffin though, and my life was changed forever. As if the pumpkin bread wasn’t good enough, the muffins had the addition of the tangy cream … [Read more…]
I truly think banana bread is one of the best foods. Not only do I convince myself it’s somewhat healthy when it most definitely is not (come on, the title itself alludes to healthiness) but there is nothing like the smell of banana bread baking in the oven. If you have noticed, I’m big on things that smell like Fall when baking. I’m big on Fall anything, really… we just ordered 7 Fall Yankee Candles for the season. We take a love of Fall to whole new level! Bananas are one of my … [Read more…]
2 more days until September, which means it’s practically Fall. Of course, Starbucks has already started selling their Pumpkin Spice Lattes so if Starbucks ran the world, the best season/time of year is already upon us. Thank you, Starbs. Here at LDBaking, we love Fall and all things Fall related so please prepare yourselves as well bombard you with Fall inspired recipes from now until, well, forever. And so today, I bring you pumpkin bread! I want to start by saying that I’m not the biggest … [Read more…]
Tis the season for zucchini! I’ve already started seeing coworkers leaving their extras in the break room at work. I’m slightly ashamed to say though, I have no homegrown zucchini this year 🙁 I got the “grey bugs of death” on my plants and there was no saving them. Normally by this time of year we have dozens of ginormous ones and I’m desperately trying to use them all and of course, now that I don’t have any, I miss them. You know how it goes. Never fear, I’m still making you zucchini … [Read more…]
Every year for one week, my family and I rent a beach house in Aptos, California. The first time I went to this house, I was just over a year and some of my favorite childhood memories are from the beach house. It’s this massive house that sleeps like 30 of us and has this huge bay window that looks out across the ocean. We always congregate in the living room and listen to old school country (Luckenbach, Texas is my new favorite song btw) and talk and play trivia. We also always have a puzzle … [Read more…]
Are you ready for more peaches? You better be! Did you know August is National Peach Month? I totes did, and that’s why I went all peach-crazy this week! Jk…I had no idea. Play along with me and pretend we both knew? The real reason I can’t stop won’t stop with the peaches is because the BF is out of town and he hates peaches. Not just a “Ehh…peaches aren’t my favorite…” it’s a full blown hatred. I know, I know…I don’t get it either! Since he’s not here I’m hoarding all the peach treats … [Read more…]
Guys, I debated whether or not to post this. I mean, nobody wants to highlight a failure or showcase a bad idea. But in the spirit of blog transparency and to show that just because you have a baking blog doesn’t mean you always get the recipe right, I’m sharing it. Really, it’s all to help you not make the same mistake as me. You’re welcome 🙂 I had such high hopes this past weekend of creating a gluten-free, dairy-free biscuit. That right there should have been enough to steer me away and … [Read more…]
As Kelly mentioned before, we ate so many great meals in Portland we just knew we’d have to recreate some at home! We went to a cute little Swedish place called Broder for Easter brunch and it had the most delicious bread! Not that my meal wasn’t great…I was just a little disappointed with the small pieces of toast I got. I wanted more! … [Read more…]
I had a completely different post all ready for today, and then I made this focaccia bread last night. And I just had to share it! Had to. Sorry Citrus Spinach Smoothie…you just have to wait your turn. Today is focaccia bread’s time to shine. … [Read more…]
