Peach – Long Distance Baking

I warned you, didn’t I? Summer = all peach everything around here. But summer also means hurricane season and this one is already a doozy. Living in Louisiana we were lucky to be far enough north hurricanes weren’t really a concern, but you have never truly seen a storm until you have seen a storm in the South. If you’ve been following along here for awhile, you’ll know that my husband hates peaches (I still am appalled). You’ll also know that I, on the other hand, LOVE peaches. And every time he goes out of town in the summer I use it as my excuse to put peaches in everything: peach muffins, peach crumble, peach freezer jam and my all time favorite peach cobbler! By now everyone knows I obsessively love peaches. Between the peach cobblers, peach muffins, peach jam…I could honestly eat all peach everything and never get tired of it. So when we stopped at an adorable farmer’s market in Tuscaloosa  and they had fresh peaches (and again last weekend at one in Little Rock…seriously, farmers markets are my fav), you know I just had to buy some. Guys…I’m cold. I know it’s not as cold here as that whole “Polar Vortex” thing back East I keep hearing about, but…I’m still cold. And I don’t remember the last time I saw the sun. Boise is in a valley and keeps getting these inversion things. It’s basically just low lying clouds…that stay for weeks, trapping the cold air.
